Toothless Plush #5: Pushing the Limitby *Super3dcow

Here it finally is, the last of the 3 Toothless' I started making back in December 2011.

This is the first Toothless plush 100% made by me. The only thing I wasn't doing with the other plushies was painting the eyes, and I decided it was time I tackled it myself.

I made my own paint brush composed of 5 cat whiskers, shown in the bottom middle picture, to create super thin streaks on the eyes for increased detail. Not bad for my first pair of eyes ever I think.

As you can see, this head is the most accurate I've made so far. This is also the first time I gave him his little nose by tying a small thread on the inside. Finally got his horns to stay down too. That was a problem with my last two plushies made of the same fabric, it's just so fluffy I couldn't get them to stay down.

I went through and color corrected the images this time so they are all balanced, and that the eye is the same color as it looks in real life. The unfinished eye is so blue because the polyurethane adds a pretty strong yellow tint that makes the blues turn green. I ended up adding mostly green layers after that blue anyway, so that's not what the final eye color looked like before spraying.

. He's been sold since last year, when I was getting offers on him before I even started. I won't be making another one to sell for a while, as I have special plans for the next one or 2. After that we will see.
